What Is an Asset

Asset records are used to track technological units, building technical equipment, machines, and instruments. For easier navigation, assets can be assigned to so-called asset groups. An asset group cannot combine assets from different localities.

If an asset is connected to a group, the icon of the assigned group is displayed for the asset.

Basic attributes

The following basic attributes can be recorded for an asset:

  • Asset code (unique asset identifier)
  • Asset name
  • Asset type
  • Locality
  • Manufacturer
  • Manufacturer model designation
  • Registration number
  • Serial number

Time attributes

The following basic time-related details can be recorded for an asset:

  • Year of manufacture
  • Date put into operation
  • End of warranty

Components

Asset components are separate assets of a specific type that have a relationship to a parent asset. For example, you can record an air handling unit and, as a component, record a gas burner assigned to it.

Documents

Any documents can be assigned to individual assets, such as operating manuals, image and drawing documentation, or other documents. A document can be assigned to an asset from your disk, or you can attach a document that has already been uploaded once; see the Documents module.
