How do I create a new regulation?

Inspection types are grouped in regulations. Regulations can be of two origins:

  • Statutory — created according to a standard, law, or government regulation
  • Internal — created based on needs or internal requirements

Regulations should be created to cover a specific area of requirements that you want to include in the application. Of course, it is possible to create one regulation with 20 inspection types, but this is not recommended. It has several disadvantages:

  • Such an extensive regulation will have a very generic name that does not convey anything meaningful.
  • Regulations are enabled in a locality. With extensive regulations, it is difficult to ensure that some inspection types are not missing in a locality.

The regulations list is located in Settings / Maintenance

Regulations list

You can create a new regulation by clicking the + New regulation button in the regulations list.

Start on the Basic attributes tab. First, fill in the regulation code. Then fill in the required regulation name attribute. The name should reflect the area of requirements that the regulation covers.

If you fill in the code, inspection type and asset feature codes will be prefilled automatically.

New regulation basic attributes

You can also add the standards on which the regulation is based. This field is used mainly for statutory regulations. There are two regulation kinds. Asset inspection is the default, and such a regulation contains periodic or initial inspections concluded with a final report. The Checklists kind specifies a regulation that contains checklists with a configured repetition period.

The last part is regulation classification. Regulation sets are predefined, but you can create more in Settings / Maintenance / Regulation sets. Regulation sets let you group regulations logically, and you can also filter by regulation set in the application.

Example:
The "Fire protection" set contains all regulations related to fire safety.

The regulation area classifies regulations from the perspective of the asset types they cover.
