What are work rules?

Work rules automatically determine who is set in Assigned To on work orders. A work order is a maintenance object that can have Assigned To filled in — a work request or an inspection. If the system schedules an inspection for an asset and finds a suitable rule, it applies it and automatically fills in Assigned To on the inspection. The same applies to work requests when the requester does not specify Assigned To directly when creating the request.

Work rules can be limited by location. You can specify which localities or asset groups they apply to. If the system finds suitable rules for both a locality and an asset group, the rule for the asset group takes precedence because it is more specific. A rule for a locality is more general.

Assigned To can be a team or an individual user. A team is a group of workers. Any team member can resolve the given work order. A team can have a primary assignee; after the rule is applied, that person is set in Assigned To on the work order.
