How do I add an asset to the map?
There are two possible approaches. The first is from the map, where you navigate the map and gradually add points. The second way is from the asset, where you place an asset point on the map.
Adding from the map
In the navigation, go to the Maps module.
Select a locality (by clicking a pin or an item in the side panel), then a building or floor.
If a locality contains only one building, the application skips the building selection and automatically opens the building's default floor.
In the top-right corner there are three switches for setting map work modes.
- The arrow symbol indicates the default mode.
- The Plus symbol turns on drawing mode.
- The ruler symbol turns on distance measurement mode.
Press the middle switch to enter drawing mode. You can now create a point or polygon. By default, a point is created; if you want to draw a polygon, use the additional switch.
Asset as a point object
If point entry mode is not selected, activate it and then click on the map; a beige circle will be drawn at that location.
You can delete the point using the "Clear" button. In drawing mode, actions are tracked and can be undone.
Example:
I draw a point in room 1.38, then delete it and draw one in room 1.40. If I change my mind and want the original position back, I can double-press the "Back" button to restore the point drawn in room 1.38.
Asset as a polygon
For most assets, entering them as a point is enough, but you can also enter them as a polygon. For example, an elevator can be drawn as a polygon.
Activate polygon drawing mode and click on the map step by step; individual points will be connected by lines. The last point is automatically connected to the first. You can move an existing polygon point by grabbing it with the mouse and dragging it to a new location. Clicking a polygon line creates a new inserted point. Right-clicking a point removes it.
The "Back" button lets you remove added points one by one. The "Clear" button removes the entire polygon from the map.
Saving the graphic object
Once you have drawn something (a point or polygon), the "Save" button becomes active.
When you press it, a dialog opens offering records to link to your drawn object.
At the top of the dialog are linking options. The last option saves the graphic object without linking it to anything yet.
Choose to link to an asset, select the asset from the list, and save with the "Confirm" button at the bottom of the dialog. The asset is now placed on the map.
You can use the green button to open the asset detail, where its location on the map is also shown.
Adding from the asset
In this case, entry is simpler, but limited to placing only a point on the map.
Open the asset edit dialog. Either from the asset list—click the three dots and then the "Edit" button—or from the asset detail using the green "Edit" button.
In the edit dialog, press the "Select on map" button. A new window with the map opens.
Here you can click on the map to place a point where your asset is located.
The map is linked to the Location field. If Location is filled in, the map opens on the drawing that matches that location; conversely, when you place a point on the map, Location is filled in automatically.
When you confirm the selection, the window closes and the asset edit dialog shows the new location and the point on the map.
Press "Save" and the asset is placed on the map.
